hi,
myself and my boyfriend (aged 30) are visting rhode island early september and are looking for a nice coastal place to stay in for a couple of days for some rest %26amp; relaxation. coming from connecticut by train, where is the best place to go to and where has train stations?
where to go, first timers
Early Sept is the best time to be in Newport- the weather is always gorgeous and the water is still warm enough to swim. Plenty of great Irish owned pubs and restaurants in Newport too. The train will take you as far as Kingston, from there you would have to bus it I guess. Narragansett is closer and not as tourist related as Newport. Check out RIPTA.

I would definitely say Newport. Here is a link that has car/shuttle service options from the Kingston Station.

I don%26#39;t know much about the trains, but a previous post said that Naragansatt was closer to Kingston where the train goes. I just completed a road trip around New England and one of the stays was in Naragansatt at the Candlelight Inn Bed and Breakfast. It was absolutely fabulous--great space, breakfast provided, an easy walk to the beach. Very reasonably priced for all that we got. Joyce, the host, is a dream--helped us plan our sightseeing, lots of fun to talk to. Check out the website: http://www.bnblist.com/ri/candlelight_inn/
