I will be in Newport next week and am looking for a good place to buy supplies for a beach picnic. Any recommendations?

There is a WalMart and JobLot on the island just outside of downtown Newport. There is also a BJ%26#39;s Club if you are a member.

Sig%26#39;s Deli has great sandwiches and a fantastic mac%26amp;cheese and always has a line on beach days.

Did you mean food supplies? Ditto on Sig%26#39;s Deli..otherwise I hear the Ace%26#39;s Hardware store at First beach has all you might need as far as chairs and pails and stuff.

My first choice would be Bliss (Gourmet) Cafe and Market (upscale)which is located on Broadway in Newport. It is just north of the Newport Hospital on the corner of Brodway and Bliss across Bliss from the Newport Prescription Center. They have truly gourmet takeout. Scrumptious baked and savory foods as well as your usual sandwiches. You can also get grocery items from the market section.

If you stop here, you can take a short-cut to the beaches by taking Bliss Rd and then take a right on Eustis and take it all the way to the end. Then take a left on Memorial Blvd and you%26#39;ll be at EAston%26#39;s BEach or First Beach in Newport. You can continue on to 2nd and 3rd beaches in Middletown. Just follow the road along the water.

If you want cheap wraps there is a D%26#39;Angelo%26#39;s on West Main Road in Middletown that you%26#39;ll pass before you even enter Newport, if you want more interesting wraps and a little more expensive go to Pic-a-pockets on Thames St in Newport but you%26#39;ll have to battle for a parking space since it is downtown.
