Coming in town for my brothers Wedding at the Astors Mansion..we want to see some of the other mansions, enjoy the blues festival and grab some local food etc...any recommendations would be appreciated..looking for good places to eat that only local may know of...something interesting regarding mansions to visit...and suggestions to avoid the tourist traps :)
Jazz Fest/Mansions What to do%26gt;
THis site has many recent posts for great, local restaurants. IMO the most beautiful, mansion really is Doris Duke%26#39;s ';Rough Point'; a little more costly admission, but as she left it. Rosecliff, Breakers, others impressive too. Another cool place to see or stay is the Rose Island Lighthouse located in the harbor, accessible by water taxi.

It is summer in Newport an there is no place that just the locals know of, but you%26#39;ll still have a blast.
Astors is a great placw to get married and is a fantastic tour also. The Breakers is a must-do as is the Cliff Walk. Rough Point is nice because the house is as she left it when she died as the other person pointed out. The Marble House is also a nice tour.
Go to Newport Vineyards for a tour %26amp; tasting. Great deli right next door also.
Norman Bird Santuary is beautiful for hiking. A visit to Newport isn%26#39;t complete without getting on the harbor with a boat tour.
Local food...
The Mooring for a ';bag of donuts';
The Black Pearl for the chowder - a Newport must-do
Smokehouse for B.B.Q.
Flo%26#39;s at First Beach just for the experience
Fluke on Bannisters Wharf - newest place in downtown
White Horse Tavern
Castle Hill for the view. Have a cocktail on the lawn
