Just got back...

My family and I just returned from a week at the Block. (7/16 to 7/23)We have been vacatioing at Block Island for a week every year since 1996. It was again a fantastic vacation. My comment to all who are considering going to the Block Island for a day trip or long weekend, or a week or longer vacation....';DO IT!!!!'; A week there and you feel as if you have been away for much longer from the everyday life of your job. I love it...

Just got back...

My wife and I are taking my two kids, 5 and 3, tomorrow on the Fast Ferry...we have no idea what to do with them. Any suggestions?

How long are you staying, 1 day trip or an overnight? If it is a day trip, I suggest a walk on ';Baby Beach'; This is the beach that you can access to the side of The Surf Hotel. Lots of shells, little stones, crabs, etc for kids to explore. You can also take a short walk up Spring Street to the Manisses Animal Farm. Camels, kangaroos, cows, goats, etc. The kids will enjoy it.

There are some playgrounds on the island, but with a 3 %26amp; 5 year old, it would require some transportation to get to. The ';skate park'; has a nice playground and climber and Champlins has a cool pirate-ship playscape. The adults can also walk down the piers to admire some of the largest yachts %26amp; sailboats around. Also a cool little bar at the end of the pier. Home of the $9 Mudslide. (Worth it on a hot day)
