Fall Wedding in Narragansett

I%26#39;m getting married in Narragansett this fall %26amp; I am planning from the west coast. Does anyone have any good ideas for a rehearsal dinner? Thanks!

Fall Wedding in Narragansett

There aren%26#39;t that many restaurants in the area. Coast Guard House, Spain if it still exists. I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;m missing some.

Besides the two mentioned previously there is Basils and Woodys in the Pier area. I guess it depends on how far you want to go from the area and how many people will be at the rehearsal and the budget for the dinner.

There is also the Ocean Rose Inn and a few places in Wakefield.

Where is the wedding?

The reception will be at the Village Inn on Beach Street in Narragansett. I%26#39;m thinking I don%26#39;t want to travel too far as a lot of people will be traveling from out of state. A friend recommended Turtle Soup. Have either of you tried this restaurant?

There will be somewhere between 22-30 people for dinner.

Thanks for your replies!

Turtle Soup is in the Ocean Rose Inn on Ocean Rd. We%26#39;ve eaten there many times and are always happy with the meal. The view is nice, too.

I would call several of the places mentioned and see if they can accomodate the size group you have.

At least the wedding is not in the summer as the area is booming with vacationers and restaurants are so busy, they might not care about your needs.

If the wedding isn%26#39;t too late in the fall, ( it would get cold in the evening) have you considered finding a place that could do a clambake under a tent. That%26#39;s very New England.

The size of the group and advance planning is key. Spain (401-783-9770)is lovely, Coast Guard House (401-789-0700) does a nice job, Turtle Soup (401-792-8683) might not be able to schedule a large group as they do not have much space. Catrina%26#39;s Italian Village on Boston Neck Rd (Bonnet Shores, 401-789-1725) has good food and a semi-private event area. Mariner%26#39;s Grille (Pt. Judith Rd. 401-284-3282) also does a nice job with rehersal dinners. There are several clam bake companies if you want to go with a tent somewhere. For something more elegant but reasonably priced check out West Bay Gourmet Catering (401-789-9229.) Not all of these have web sites.

Please note that I have no financial interest in any of the above but I hear quite abit about vendors from my guests that are in town for weddings.

Have a wonderful event!

Thank you both for the information. Looks like I should start with a couple of phone calls to the restaurants.

Are either of you familiar with Beavertail State Park? The ceremony will be held there at the beginning of October. I was just wondering what your opinion is on the park. We%26#39;re debating about using a tent. I%26#39;ll definitely keep it as Plan B in case of rain...but if it%26#39;s seasonably warm, maybe 60, am I crazy not to use a tent? :) Just wondering!

Thanks again for all your help!

Beavertail is a lovely park but could be breezy rain or shine so your guests will want to keep a wrap handy. I didn%26#39;t know tents were allowed. I have known people to have an alternate wedding site and need to use it.

I%26#39;ve never been to Beaver Tail Park, but if it%26#39;s close to the water you should always be prepared for the weather here in New England. It%26#39;s always hard to predict especially at that time of year, it could be beautiful and warm or cloudy, cool and damp.

Definitely have a Plan B and you might want to be sure to let the guests know ( maybe at a bridal shower) that the ceremony might be outside, so they dress appropriately.

Beavertail Park in Jamestown is gorgeous but no I have never seen a tent there, though i have seen some dramatic weddings high in the rocks with the cliffs and the surf as a backdrop. Fort Wetherill and Getty are on the way there and have more tent accomodations, and are also beautiful.

Hello,

As xia said, Beavertail Park is in Jamestown, not Narragansett and Narragansett is about a 20 minute drive from Jamestown.

Is there some reason you wanted to have the reception in Narragansett rather than Jamestown? Jamestown has some beautiful places to hold the reception.

I would absolutely get a tent. This is New England and you%26#39;ll be very lucky if it%26#39;s as warm as 60 degrees, especially in hurricane season. In early October you may get an 85 degree day or a 45 degree day. The park is gorgeous but it%26#39;s windy on the best days and you%26#39;ll want to be able to block some of the wind.
