My wife and I are planning a visit to RI next month. We have never been and are looking forward to a get away just for us (without kids). I am a little concerned about our flight reservations because I could not get the times I wanted that would give us the most time to enjoy our visit and not have to rush but we will at least have 2 full days. We arrive Monday (6/11) at 9pm and depart Thursday (6/14) at 7:30am. I wish we were arriving earlier and leaving later but the ticket prices were about 3 times the cost. Anyway, I guess my real question is how hard would it be to return a rental car make a 7:30am flight if you are staying at a B%26amp;B in Newport. I think we want to spend the majority of our time in Newport but we could move to a hotel closer to the airport if we need to Wednesday night. Thanks.
Stay in Newport - Airport question
Well, if your rental is at the airport or often they are across from the airport it should not take too long. For a domestic flight at 7:30 am I would be there an hour early even if I checked baggage. If it was later in the day I would make sure this to be the case since the line can be longer. But this is only what I would do. Enjoy your stay.
Stay in Newport - Airport question
If your question is, %26#39;should you stay closer to the airport your last night?%26#39; I would say no....I regularly fly out of PVD even earlier than 7:30. If your rental car is in the airport garage (Hertz, Budget, or Avis) I would leave a little before 6:00 and you should be all set.
Maybe 5:30 if your rental involves a shuttle bus (Enterprise, Payless, Alamo, Dollar, Thrifty)...
Figure 45 minute drive from Newport to TF Green.
isn%26#39;t it possible to return the car to the rental office and drop the keys in the night box? I would call and find out.
Thanks for the responses. I%26#39;ll leave early enough to turn in the car and catch the plane. The wife has already told me she didn%26#39;t want to move to a different hotel just to be closer to the airport. Now for figuring out where to stay. Sounds like B%26amp;B is the way to go and there are a lot to choose from.
I would check out the ....Edgewood Manor or The Charles Newhall House........ four miles from the airport if you wanted to stay at a great inn and be close enough to catch a 730 am flight the next morning. You have to be at the airport at least 1 hr prior to departure so you need to factor this in to your plans. Good luck!!
that early in the morning will be an easy trip to the airport.
www.GoNewport.com for places to stay and a great calendar of events.
2 days is a nice time to spend.
See a mansion or two (Breakers and Astros Beechwood), walk on the Cliff Walk, drive 10 mile ocean drive and stop at Castle Hill for the view, visit the Tennis Hall of Fame, get out on the harbor and eat your way through the city!
Cozy Cab has regular airport shuttle service for about $20 per person just about hourly from the major hotels. All you%26#39;d need to do is call them and ask about the airport shuttles and tell them where you want to pick it up. You could turn in the rental care the night before and either walk or take a cab to one of the shuttle pick-up locations.
I%26#39;m adding to my previous post. I just wanted to clarify that the airport shuttle service I am talking about with Cozy Cab is from Newport to the airport.
