Oceanview 1 & 11

we are staying there from wed till sat......we were supposed to stay in narraganset now it seems they booked us in or closer to newport. we have four kids with us.....older 11 and up .....we are facing narraganset bay........should we go to the beach of narrangansett? what to do for kids.......I heard about go carts? any rides or minitur golf?any recommendations for kid frindly places to eat.......or any good restaurants in general......any movie theatres?

I%26#39;ve never heard of that place...is that the name of the complex ';Oceanview 1 %26amp; 11';? Or is that a specific room within a complex?

Narragansett is not really close to Newport (relatively speaking...it%26#39;s about 1/2 hour away without traffic on the other side of the bay) There are no go-cart or miniature golf places in/near Newport. Narragansett has some....plenty of child friendly restauratns in Newport though, as well as a couple movie theaters.

yes it seems as though they are condo rentals....and the address is 65 ridge road newport........my issue is I wanted narragansett so now Im in newport? so anyway........it says it faces naraganset bay so Ifigured we were near naragansett.......I realize that in reading newport was 1/2 hour away.......ugh I wanted to stay in naragansett......unfortunately should Inow be researching newport stuff instead?

well, there is more to do in Newport and the beaches are nicer. Ryan%26#39;s Family Amusement is in downtown Npt where there are plenty of arcade games. Easton%26#39;s or First Beach has a merry go round and little aquarium. Plenty of movie theatres in Newport and Middletown. You won%26#39;t have a problem finding things to do, and I wouldn%26#39;t worry too much about T storms either.

thanks so much for all your useful info. I feel a bit better now.....I was worried that the kids might get bored......I woundt be with all those shops but? at least if the kids could have stuff to do. are there ferrys to marthas vineyard or block island there?

OK, now I get it....the resorts name is Oceancliff. It%26#39;s part of a timeshare group. The view from there is fantastic....overlooking the mouth of Narragansett Bay right next to Castle Hill. (Castle Hill is a high end Inn and Cottage resort next door) There is a sprawling lawn in the back with Adirondack chairs where you can sit and watch the Boats go by. Here is a link to the place, although they don%26#39;t give you a lot of info:

A slight problem you might find is that it is away from downtown (about a 10 minute drive) I%26#39;m not sure if the resort has a shuttle bus or anything but parking could be an issue for you downtown (Although wed - sat is not as bad as the weekend)

There aren;t any real beaches right near where you are staying, mostly rocky coastline, the best beaches are in Middletown (The next town over)

There are LOTS of things to do and see in Newport. Check out www.gonewport.com for ideas.

There is a ferry that leaves from Fort Adams to Block Island every day at 9:15 and leaves Block Island at 4:45 and returns to Newport around 6:30. It would be very convenient from your location and you can park there for free.

There is a fast ferry from North Kingstown (about 30 minutes by car from Newport) to the Vineyard.

Now that I think of it, you could always park your car at Fort Adams and take a water taxi into the main part of town. From there, you can also take the trolleys around town and even out to the beaches.

Here%26#39;s a slightly better website with info:

Good info. The water shuttle from Fort Adams into downtown would be fun and convenient. Don%26#39;t get to excited about that website to OceanCliff. That is the high-end resort next door to the timeshare place you are staying. Your place is nice, but not that nice. Tour Fort Adams also.

Eat at Flo%26#39;s Clam Shack and also at Salas Italian Restaurant (the second floor). Check out Brick Alley Pub and The Black Pearl Hot Dog stand for to-go hot dogs and chowder. Go to Sig%26#39;s deli and get sandwiches and have a picnic at Brenton State Park right near the time share. Brenton is a great place to fly kites and walk on the rocks also.Tour Astors%26#39; Beechwood Mansion, a living history tour done by professional actors that kids enjoy. Takes you back to the year 1891. There is a Pirate Walking Tour on weekends and every kid should visit Aquidneck Lobster Company and see all the live lobsters.

Go to a Gulls baseball game. Best college players in the country with pro scouts in the crowd watching them.

Tuesday night is free family concert night at First Beach.

Walk the CliffWalk - a Newport ';must-do';
