driving from Newport, RI to Virginia Beach, VA

I want to go on the Tappen Zee Bridge in NY instead of the George

Washington Bridge. How do I connect? I%26#39;m not a seasoned driver and get nuts in big traffic. Someone told me to take the Tappen Zee Bridge and that goes around NY. Any help would be appreciated.

Well you might not be stuck in a traffic jam if you go over the TappanZee, a popular alternative. You probably want to make your way to the Merrit Parkway in CT, after going over the bridge things move quick, keep your eyes peeled for the Parkway signs- the exits come quick. Then to the parkway where things relax.

Sorry I was thinking you are heading North. From Newport, on Rt 95 South (it%26#39;s easier) take exit 38 in Milford, CT. I remember this cuz of the 38 Hurricane. Then follow signs for Parkway and eventually 287 to take you over the TZ. I%26#39;ve also crossed over in Fairfield, CT but I exactly remember the exact road.
